Who We Are
Mane Matters started in 2013 and is the brainchild of Erin Wilson, SU Qld Chaplain, Youth Worker, Counsellor, Equine Assisted Programmer & Therapist. As well as being a nationally accredited Horse Safety Australia Instructor.
In 2019 it became a not for profit after a group people saw the impact and high costs of the programme. Who then decided to help it become a not for profit to keep moving forward and doing this amazing life transforming work of both people, ponies and horses.
Mane Matters Horsemanship Programs are based on Scientifically proven principles.
Harnessing people's energy, mind and body language through horsemanship (no horse experience required), Mane Matters uses horses to aid in the management of: anxiety, depression, self-worth, fear, team building, leadership, personal relationships, behavioural patterns and much more. It will help with your social and emotional well-being while learning in a safe inclusive environment.
Horses mirror what the handler is doing and what they are projecting through their body and energy.
Mane Matters is run from a real working farm and can help with skills to gain employment in the equine and rural sectors.
Horses are a great tool to help break through barriers and overcome the hurdles of life.
Erin Wilson comes with years of experience as a professional in the equine industry, with a wealth of real-life I experience.
The Mane Matters Team has rescued and restored many horses over the years to full health. Some are retained for program or placed into suitable homes. Refers to the Resreaction Ranch page(currently under construction)
We provide NDIS services to people who are self managed and are currently working towards our accreditation. For NDIS services with use Pony Tracks Australia to deliver theses. Refer to the page Pony Tracks Australia NDIS Services.
Our Charity Work
It Starts With the Will to Make a Difference
Participation in Community Events
One of the main reasons Mane Matters Inc. was founded in 2013 was to help spread the joy within the local community and those struggling socially and financially. We’ve dedicated a lot of man-hours and invested countless resources to our work to spread joy and help children learn more about themselves, we hope you’ll help us continue this work. Become one of our sponsors or help with a one-time donation!
Visits to those Socially Excluded
We love to put a smile on the face of elderly residents, special needs children and hospital patients! We voluntarily visit these centres to give someone a special out-of-the-ordinary experience they will always remember. This is a wonderful, uplifting experience for everyone involved. If you would like to organise a visit to your centre, there may be a small cost involved to cover transportation and any out-of-pocket expenses.
